Will I get the job?

Context

The querent was a student, studying the arts in a country that is not his home. He was beginning to look for jobs in the field as his degree was ending, and wanted to know whether he’d get a job before his postgraduate visa expired in the Summer.

Interpretation

The querent is Lord 1, the Moon at 18 degrees of Pisces in House 10. The potential job is Lord 10, Jupiter at 16 degrees of Gemini, immediately inside the 12th cusp, hidden from the querent. This is a poor job market – Jupiter sits in its detriment and retrograde, suggesting a definite lack of growth and positions.

With a retrograde Mars – Lord 11 – sitting on his 2nd cusp and Lord 1 having recently squared Lord 2, the Sun, which sits on the 6th cusp, we can see that the the issues of his visa and the income needed to sustain it are key factors in the chart. He needs to earn to stay, but his earning potential is limited with low accidental dignity. Saturn on the 10th cusp implies further limitations – possibly legal issues, as Saturn is Lord 9. While the Moon sits in House 10 – often considered a positive testimony showing the querent in the job, Saturn is also Lord 7, and as it sits just inside the 10th cusp – effectively blocking out the Moon – it implies that competitors are as good as already in the roles.

We can see how keen the querent is to get a job in his field by the receptions – his significator is in the job’s domicile, and exalts Lord 5, Venus, here the significator of creativity and the arts. While the job is indifferent to the querent, this is to be expected. He has not applied and hasn’t even graduated – they have no way to know who he is, and even if they did he’s likely among a sea of graduate candidates.

Aspects

For the querent to get the job, there would need to be an applying aspect between him and the job alongside other positive testimony. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Lord 1, the Moon, has passed an aspect with Lord 10, Jupiter, and will not make another without prohibition. In fact, the Moon is void of course – not making any further aspects before changing sign in over 11 degrees. In tradition, this means events ‘go hardly on’, so without major positive testimony the chart is not looking good.

Verdict

No, the querent will not get a job in their specialist field this summer, in time to keep their visa. They will need to broaden the search if they wish to stay in the country they studied in.=
