A chance of romance?

The querent, a young woman, asked a question about a man who frequently visited her but had expressed no desire to enter into a more serious romantic relationship. She wanted more, he said he didn’t but she hoped he was going to change his mind. Would he?

The querent is represented by Lord 1, the Moon at 4° Scorpio 49′, in fall and in the Via Combusta – commonly a place of ‘desperation’ for the Moon. As a woman, the querent can also be represented by Venus at 26° Taurus 54′ in dignity (at least for now – it will head into Gemini soon). Venus is her as a woman – her feminine side, her attractiveness, her stereotypical womanly qualities in romance. It’s common for Venus to represent a woman’s sex drive. Venus is immediately conjunct Caput Algol, the star of ‘losing your head’, so may not be thinking very clearly about the situation. A woman who deserves attention, but is confused and saddened that it isn’t the sort of attention she wants.

Our non-romantic Romeo is Lord 7, Saturn at 18° Pisces 09′, with a very specific interest in the querent. He exalts Venus, and has absolutely no interest in the Moon. She’s physically and sexually very attractive to him, but he has no interest in her as a person, as Lord 1, the Moon. His other significator, the Sun, is similar to the querent’s Venus, showing his man-side, and his sex drive. So what does he want from our desirable querent? Her desirable part – her body.

On top of all this, the querent has little interest in the man at all! Her interest is primarily in herself, and in feeling better.

I asked the querent what their visits are like and, after some hesitancy, she told me he visits primarily to ‘hang out’. I asked whether ‘hanging out’ ended in sex, and she said it did.

Does any of this change? Does this man Can we bring the two together for wedded bliss? Probably not – there’s prohibition stopping her significators and his from making aspects to each other. His planets sit early in their signs, suggesting there’s no imminent change in his attitudes.

Verdict

There’s no romance here. He sees what he can get from this. While she’s willing to give him what he wants the whole thing will keep chugging along. The querent needs to decide if she’s willing to keep going with a relationship that’s going no further.
